In a recent episode of SmartLess, the singer shared that she feels like she missed a period of time about a decade ago.

Ariana Grande may have had her own “eternal sunshine” experience.

During the SmartLess episode on Wednesday, Feb. 3, the 31-year-old singer admitted she struggles to remember a specific period in her life.

The topic arose when Will Arnett mentioned being on a “bizarre” U.K. talk show with Grande a decade ago, which he believed was Chatty Man.

The We Can’t Be Friends singer, however, had no memory of the appearance.

“I’m missing a couple of years,” Grande admitted. “I’m completely serious—I genuinely don’t remember those years.”

Arnett, 54, jokingly called her forgetfulness “disgraceful” before quickly clarifying, “No, you were great.”

Reflecting on her early career, the Into You artist recalled being just 19 when her debut album, Yours Truly, was released.

“I never expected it to take off the way it did, in such a beautiful way,” she shared. “There was no real way to prepare for that.”

Grande also spoke about her deep love for theater before transitioning into pop music.

“I’m a theater nerd at heart,” she said. “This wild journey with music completely took over my life for a long time. It was incredible, but also very difficult.”

Though it wasn’t what she had envisioned, she described the experience as “beautiful and fulfilling.”

“When I was younger, especially after 13 on Broadway, I thought, How amazing? I get to be part of the theater world. I was excited about the idea of being an understudy in a Thoroughly Modern Millie revival and maybe performing in the ensemble when I wasn’t covering a role,” she recalled.

She added, “I figured I’d do music on the side, hoping someone might listen to it. I thought it would be a little side thing—if anyone happened to be interested.”

During the conversation, the Wicked star and Sean Hayes bonded over their shared admiration for Ethan Slater.

The two reminisced about working together on Hairspray Live! in 2016, recalling the time they shared a hair and makeup trailer. Hayes, 54, described Slater, 32, as “a very good friend of mine.”

“Yes, he loves you so much,” Grande responded.

“I love him too,” Hayes said. “Ethan Slater is one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. He performed with me in Good Night, Oscar in Chicago, then joined Wicked, and now you two are dating. I love that—you make a perfect couple.”
