Carpenter talked about the moment Adele referred to the song as “My jam” during her Las Vegas performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Sabrina Carpenter is still in shock that Adele is a fan!

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, Aug. 22, to celebrate the release of her new album Short n’ Sweet, Carpenter, 25, shared her amazement that the pop legend is familiar with her music.

“Your songs have been everywhere lately; people can’t stop singing them,” host Jimmy Fallon remarked during the interview.

He then mentioned a video where Adele mentioned how “Espresso” was the last thing on her mind before going to bed, causing Carpenter to giggle.

Fallon, 49, then showed a clip from Adele’s Las Vegas residency on May 18, where the singer, seated on stage at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, chatted with the audience about adjusting to the Vegas time zone after a break, which had her staying up later than usual.

“As I got into bed last night—’cause that’s a very late night for me, normally I’m in bed by 9 p.m.—I found myself singing, ‘I’m working late, ’cause I’m a singer,'” Adele, 36, shared, before singing the lyrics to “Espresso.”

“That Sabrina Carpenter song!… That song is my jam!”

After the clip played, Fallon echoed Adele’s excitement, repeatedly saying, “That song is my jam!” and adding, “I love that.”

Switching to a playful British accent, Carpenter repeated Adele’s words, “That Sabrina Carpenter song.”

She then added with a laugh, “I just love how I’m like, ‘Does she have social media?’ Like, how does she even know about the song?”

She continued, “That was the most mind-blowing thing to me.”

“It’s Adele,” Fallon remarked, to which Carpenter enthusiastically echoed, “It’s Adele! One name, that’s it.”

“Exactly. One name, that’s it,” Fallon agreed.

“Yeah. So cool,” Carpenter added.

Later in the interview, Fallon celebrated the release of Short n’ Sweet, noting that “it’s officially out right now.” He declared, “This is the summer of Sabrina Carpenter,” before highlighting some of her recent achievements, including the success of the Adele-endorsed track.

“‘Espresso’ has been certified platinum and became one of the fastest songs to reach a billion streams in Spotify’s history,” he read from a card, as the audience erupted in cheers.

In an interview with PAPER Magazine published on Wednesday, Aug. 21, Carpenter revealed that she had always known she would pursue a career in entertainment from a young age.

“I don’t know how to explain it,” she shared. “As a child, I just had this sense of, ‘I know I’m going to do this someday. I know this is what I’ll do for the rest of my life. This is the path I need to follow, whatever that means for me, and whatever success looks like for me, that’s what I’m meant to achieve.'”

Carpenter also celebrated the release of her new album on Instagram on Aug. 22. She shared a series of images that appeared to be from the recording process and expressed her gratitude to those involved in creating Short n’ Sweet, describing the experience as “special, honest, up and down, stupid and fun.”

“Short n’ Sweet is officially yours now!!!” Carpenter began in the caption.

“I feel incredibly fortunate that each time I write a new record, I learn a little more about myself and can create from that place. Making Short n’ Sweet was one of the most special, honest, up-and-down, stupid, and fun experiences of my life,” Carpenter continued, adding, “I thought if something was funny enough to make me laugh, then maybe it deserved to be in a song—happy or sad!”

She thanked her “brilliant talented friends, writers, producers, mixers, engineers, and creative minds” who helped bring the album to life. “Not a serious thought was thunk, yet somehow they were… lol I love you all and am so grateful. I will keep this short n’ sweet, buuuut more soon. Go listen now, and I hope you love it,” she concluded.
