Carpenter and Swift are set to team up for the album’s main title track.

Sabrina Carpenter couldn’t hide her excitement after Taylor Swift revealed they would be collaborating.
Shortly after Swift announced on Wednesday, Aug. 13, that her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, would feature the “Manchild” singer on its title track, Carpenter, 26, took to Instagram Stories to share her joy. Posting the album’s back cover with its track list, she wrote, “THE LIFE OF A SHOWGIRL OCTOBER 3rd 🧡 i know someone who’s freaking out and it’s me.”
She followed up by posting a throwback photo from the Eras Tour, showing herself crouched on stage in a white dress while Swift, dressed in orange and holding up her guitar, played beside her. Carpenter also shared another promo image from Swift’s announcement, where the pop icon is dressed in full showgirl glamour, adding the caption, “must also point out that.”
On Aug. 13, Swift, 35, revealed via Instagram that The Life of a Showgirl will drop Friday, Oct. 3. The album’s cover art shows her reclining in water, wearing a bedazzled cut-out bodysuit, bold red lipstick, and smoky eye makeup.
She captioned the post, “And, baby, that’s show business for you. New album The Life of a Showgirl. Out October 3.” Swift also noted that the record is produced by herself, Max Martin, and Shellback.
Additional images shared by Swift showed her in rhinestones, feathers, and ornate headpieces, matching the album’s showgirl theme.
The track list includes Carpenter’s feature alongside songs such as “Elizabeth Taylor,” “Ruin the Friendship,” “Honey,” “Actually Romantic,” “CANCELLED!,” “Eldest Daughter,” “Father Figure,” “Opalite,” and “The Fate of Ophelia.”
Swift first hinted at the album during an Instagram teaser video played on the New Heights podcast — hosted by her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce — at exactly 12:12 a.m. E.T. on Tuesday, Aug. 12.
Carpenter has been an outspoken admirer of Taylor Swift long before she joined the Eras Tour as an opening act.
Back in 2020, she told Apple Music that Swift’s work — particularly her 2020 album Folklore — had a direct influence on her own artistic approach.
Referencing something Swift wrote when announcing Folklore, the “Espresso” singer recalled, “She mentioned that she would usually overthink the songs she puts out, but with everything feeling so uncertain at the time, she decided to release them anyway. That mindset really resonated with me.”
