The star of ‘Only Murders in the Building’ refuted any insinuation of a dispute with the singer.

Back in June, observant fans noticed that Gomez, aged 31, had apparently unfollowed Dua Lipa on Instagram. Setting the record straight, the star of “Only Murders in the Building” shared during a recent interview with Fast Company, published on Tuesday, that her accidental click of the unfollow button on the “Levitating” singer’s account was entirely unintentional.
Gomez explained, “I was just tidying up my Instagram, and then someone called me, asking, ‘What happened with Dua?!'” She went on to dispel any notions of a feud, quashing speculation.
Notably, the next day, Gomez showed her public support for Lipa by wearing a wrap dress from the fashion house Versace, which had recently collaborated with Lipa on a collection, to an event promoting her own brand, Rare Beauty.
The “Calm Down” singer shared a photo of herself in the dress on Instagram, captioning it with, “A little Versace/Dua moment 🦋.”
The co-founder of the beauty brand, who boasts an impressive 430 million Instagram followers, has periodically stepped away from social media throughout the years, with her most recent hiatus occurring in February of this year.
Addressing her decision in a TikTok Live session, she remarked, “I’m going to take a break from social media for a while because this is getting a bit absurd. I’m 30 years old, and this feels a bit too juvenile.”
This choice was prompted by Gomez’s response to a fan-created TikTok video that insinuated Hailey Bieber’s TikTok post from January contained a subtle dig at her. In the video, the model was seen lip-syncing to a popular audio clip, accompanied by two friends, including Kendall Jenner.
In that very same month, Gomez candidly discussed her complex relationship with social media during an interview with Vanity Fair.
“People can label me as unattractive or unintelligent, and I’d brush it off. But these individuals go into great detail,” she shared, describing the negative comments she endured. “They compose paragraphs that are incredibly specific and malicious. I used to cry constantly, and anxiety overwhelmed me… I reached a point where I couldn’t tolerate it any longer. It felt like a waste of my time.”
She went on to express, “There are positive aspects of social media, such as connecting with fans, witnessing their joy and enthusiasm, and hearing their stories. However, for me, it’s mostly filtered now. I’ve established a system. Everything I do is sent to my assistant for posting. As for comments, my team selects a few that are uplifting.”
