The artist also shared that his upcoming singles, “Why Why Why” and “Isn’t That Enough,” will be released on August 8, preceding his fifth studio album, ‘Shawn,’ which will drop on October 19.

Shawn Mendes is gearing up to reveal his next musical chapter.
On Wednesday, July 31, the 25-year-old “In My Blood” singer announced that his highly anticipated fifth studio album, ‘Shawn,’ will be released on October 18. According to a press release, this LP is Mendes’ “most musically intimate and lyrically honest work to date,” offering listeners a “profound self-dialogue” across its 12 tracks.
The Grammy-nominated artist shared the album news on social media with a black-and-white video for his new folk-inspired song “Isn’t That Enough,” one of his upcoming singles alongside “Why Why Why.” Both singles are set to drop at 8 p.m. on his birthday, August 8.
In addition to the video, which doubles as the album trailer for ‘Shawn,’ Mendes shared the challenging journey of recording this new project in an emotional Instagram post.
“Music can truly be therapeutic,” he shared alongside the album trailer. “Two years ago, I felt completely lost. A year ago, I couldn’t enter a studio without experiencing intense anxiety. So, to be here now with 12 beautifully finished songs feels like a true blessing.”
He added, “I genuinely thank my friends and family. Life can be tough, but having a small circle of trusted people to support you makes it much more bearable. I can’t imagine how I would have navigated the past few years or created this album without you.”
The artist expressed gratitude to his close friends and family for their unwavering support and to his fans for their incredible patience and love throughout the album-making process.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” he concluded. “I hope you love this album as much as I do. I sincerely do. I hope it brings you warmth and a sense of connection to the earth, just like it does for me.”
Mendes’ forthcoming album marks his return two years after he postponed and then canceled his 2022 world tour. According to the press release, this new project was recorded over two years in various locations, including Nosara, Costa Rica; Clubhouse Studio in Rhinebeck, New York; Bear Creek Studio in Washington; Darkhorse Recordings in Nashville; and Electric Lady Studio in New York City. The album is heavily inspired by Mendes’ travels and experiences over the past few years, which he is excited to share with his fans.
In March, while announcing his headlining spot at the 2024 Rock in Rio festival on X (formerly Twitter), the “Mercy” singer revealed, “I’ve also been working on a new album and I can’t wait to play these new songs live for you. See you there. Eu te amo!!!!”
Mendes teased his upcoming self-titled album just days before its official announcement. On July 23, he shared footage on Instagram from a January 30 studio session in New York, captioning it, “Day 1 at the clubhouse. This was my first time back in the studio making an album in four years.”
In another clip from Washington, the “Stitches” singer described “living in this extremely special studio” that evokes the “most beautiful feelings” in his memories.
“I feel like this was when we truly started to tap into the essence of the album, and everything just began to flow,” he added. “I wish I could show you every moment of making this album because it was incredibly healing, but I’m glad you’re getting a glimpse. These were some of the most memorable and enjoyable moments of making music in my life.”
