A source says Ariana Grande and her ex-boyfriend Ricky Alvarez have recently been spending time together after the two were seen together, sparking renewed interest in their relationship.

Ariana Grande was recently seen reconnecting with her former boyfriend Ricky Alvarez after the two were spotted spending time together.
The pair reportedly had lunch ahead of Grande’s Eternal Sunshine Tour performance in Austin, Texas, on Friday, June 26. According to a source, the two have “been hanging out recently,” while Grande’s representative chose not to provide a comment.
The sighting comes after Grande’s split from her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater. PEOPLE reported in June 2026 that Grande, 33, and Slater ended their relationship earlier in the year.
Grande and Alvarez, also 33, were together from 2015 until their breakup in July 2016. During their relationship, Grande spoke positively about their connection, telling Billboard in 2016 that she was happy and focused on living a healthy life.
Following their split, Grande went on to date Mac Miller, Pete Davidson, Dalton Gomez, and later Ethan Slater. Despite moving on romantically, Grande and Alvarez remained friends. Alvarez even playfully responded when Grande mentioned him in her 2018 song “Thank U, Next.”
In an Instagram Stories post, Alvarez jokingly filmed himself listening to the track before reacting to the lyric where Grande sings about writing songs about him. He later shared a message expressing appreciation, writing that he was grateful and joking that the songs were “fire.”
The playful exchange fueled speculation that the two might have reunited, especially after Grande’s breakup with Pete Davidson, but Grande clarified that they were only friends at the time.
Later, when Alvarez shared a photo showing off a new look, Grande commented positively on his style. After fans questioned the status of their relationship, Grande responded by reassuring them that the two were simply friends, adding a black heart emoji.
