Yes! Selena Gomez released her latest single, “Love On,” in 2024. The song embraces a romantic, upbeat vibe and showcases her signature pop style. While she has expressed uncertainty about returning to music full-time, “Love On” is one of her most recent contributions to the industry. Let me know if you want more details about the song or her future projects!
Selena Gomez is shifting her focus toward acting following her experience filming Emilia Pérez.
During a conversation with Dave Karger at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on February 9, 2025, Gomez, 32, expressed her excitement about pursuing more film and television roles. She described working on the Jacques Audiard-directed musical as transformative, saying, “I think film and art-making and being around such incredible, talented people that have done nothing but uplift me along the way… It’s going to be very hard for me to ever go back to music after this.”
Emilia Pérez marks Gomez’s return to film acting since voicing a character in Hotel Transylvania 4 (2022). The French-produced, Spanish-language musical, in which she stars alongside Zoe Saldaña and Karla Sofía Gascón, has gained significant awards recognition. While Gascón has faced controversy over past social media posts, Saldaña has earned accolades at the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Awards. The Netflix film also leads this year’s Academy Awards with 13 nominations.
Reflecting on the experience, Gomez shared, “The director just really trusted me, and I was so grateful because I’ve gotten to show people that I am capable of doing more. I hope that this is just the beginning for me.”
Although Selena Gomez recently released new music with her 2024 single Love On, she admitted that some of the magic from her Emilia Pérez experience has faded due to the controversies surrounding her costar Karla Sofía Gascón. Despite this, she described making the film as “actually very cathartic.”
Gomez also revealed that she has only watched the movie once—during its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2024—where it won the festival’s Best Actress award.
Selena Gomez shared that she initially watched Emilia Pérez at its Cannes premiere but struggled to sit through it again with her family. “I watched in Cannes, and then I started to watch it with my family, and I got nervous,” she admitted. “You know, because my grandparents were seeing me say some stuff, and I was like, ‘Okay.'”
Despite her hesitation, Gomez noted that her grandparents still “casually throw [the movie] on in the background.”
