Pitchfork Music Festival delivered a memorable duet this year.
On Sunday, July 21, Alanis Morissette performed a duet of her 1996 hit “Ironic” with MUNA during her headlining set at the Chicago festival.
Fan-recorded videos show Katie Gavin, the lead singer of the indie-pop group, bowing to the 50-year-old “You Learn” singer as she took the stage with bandmates Josette Maskin and Naomi McPherson.
“F—ing Alanis Morissette, everybody,” Gavin, 31, exclaimed to the audience before expressing their love for the alternative music legend.
Meanwhile, Morissette embraced guitarists Maskin, 30, and McPherson, 31.
“Want to sing with me?” the seven-time Grammy winner asked Gavin, then launched into “Ironic.”
The trio sang with Morissette until after the first chorus, when they exited the stage, leaving the “Uninvited” artist to finish the song solo.
Earlier that day, MUNA performed their own set at the festival, featuring tracks like “Silk Chiffon,” “I Know a Place,” “Number One Fan,” and more, according to Setlist.fm.
The “Head Over Feet” singer frequently invites others to join her onstage.
Earlier this month, Morissette’s team confirmed to PEOPLE that she invited her drummer Victor Indrizzo’s daughter, Zahra Indrizzo, to perform “Ironic” with her at a show in Bethel, N.Y.
“That’s her dad,” Morissette informed the crowd as the 19-year-old sang her famous song.
In a video recorded by PEOPLE, Victor watched proudly from behind his drum set as his daughter sang. Zahra laughed at Morissette’s comment and appeared to blow a kiss to her father. As they prepared to sing the chorus, Morissette faced Zahra, encouraging her as she belted out the lyrics.
In June, she celebrated her daughter’s 8th birthday by introducing her, Onyx Solace, to a live audience in Nashville.
Currently, Morissette is touring North America on The Triple Moon Tour, which follows her recent series of performances commemorating the 25th anniversary of her influential album, Jagged Little Pill. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, along with Morgan Wade, have been joining her on tour.
Morissette’s tour will continue through the summer, with stops in Cincinnati, Denver, Milwaukee, and more, culminating on Saturday, August 10, at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.
