After the Recording Academy unveiled the full list of nominees for the 68th Annual Grammy Awards last week, fans quickly noticed one name missing — Benson Boone. Despite earning a Best New Artist nomination at the 2025 ceremony, the singer didn’t appear in any categories this year.
On Monday, Nov. 10, Boone took to Instagram Stories to share his thoughts on the omission. Posting a selfie, the “Beautiful Things” hitmaker jokingly wrote, “Can’t believe ‘moonbeam ice cream’ didn’t get a Grammy nom,” nodding to the viral lyric from his song “Mystical Magical” off his American Heart album. He followed it up with another tongue-in-cheek line: “It’s literally pure lyrical genius.”
For 2026, Kendrick Lamar led the Grammy nominations, with Lady Gaga, producers Cirkut and Jack Antonoff following close behind. Other major nominees included Bad Bunny, Leon Thomas, and Sabrina Carpenter.
Boone’s Best New Artist nod last year came alongside a standout performance of “Beautiful Things,” where he surprised viewers with a playful moment on stage that saw Heidi Klum and Nikki Glaser help him shed layers into a sheer, form-fitting outfit.
Currently, Boone is performing across the country on his American Heart Tour, which runs through December. “This tour feels completely different from anything I’ve done before,” he told PEOPLE in August.
Released in June, American Heart debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, marking another major milestone in Boone’s career. Reflecting on his Grammy debut last year, he recalled, “I met so many amazing people I’ve admired for years. I think that was the first time a lot of people really noticed me.”
He added at the time, “So many people know ‘Beautiful Things,’ but don’t necessarily connect it to me — that performance helped change that.”
