Ariana Grande recently shared the touching way she keeps the memory of her grandmother, Marjorie Grande, alive.
In an interview for Vogue Japan published Monday, Jan. 26, the singer reflected on how she continues to honor her beloved Nonna, who passed away last summer at age 99. Grande, 32, said she often tries to draw inspiration from her grandmother’s resilience, explaining that she strives to embody Marjorie’s strength in her own life.
The Wicked star also recalled a piece of advice from her grandmother that still echoes in her mind when she needs encouragement most: “F— them!”
To feel close to Marjorie wherever she goes, Grande revealed that she carries two ChapSticks her grandmother used. “I always have a little bit of her with me,” she told the magazine.
Marjorie’s death was announced in June 2025 by Ariana’s mother, Joan Grande, through an Instagram Stories post. In a family statement, Joan shared that Marjorie passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones during her final weeks.
“We are heartbroken to share that the beloved matriarch of our family has passed,” Joan wrote at the time. She also thanked fans for their support and asked for privacy as the family mourned and celebrated Marjorie’s remarkable life.
Alongside the announcement, Joan posted a black-and-white wedding photo of Marjorie and her late husband, Frank, captioned simply, “forever.”
Ariana’s brother, Frankie Grande, also paid tribute on Instagram, expressing his deep love for their grandmother and saying he feels her presence and pride watching over him.
Throughout her career, Ariana has often spoken about her close relationship with Marjorie, who frequently accompanied her to award shows and even appeared on her album Eternal Sunshine.
In 2024, Marjorie made history as the oldest artist ever to appear on the Billboard Hot 100. At age 98, her spoken contribution to the track “Ordinary Things” helped the song debut at No. 55 in April of that year.
