During a recent conversation with Rolling Stone, the “Sweet but Psycho” singer admitted that she finds riding in elevators quite frightening.
Ava Max recently opened up about a frightening experience that turned an ordinary vacation in Miami into a terrifying ordeal.
She explained that she had just returned from the beach and was enjoying what had been a relaxing day when the elevator accident happened. She was carrying a coffee and wearing a hat when the sudden fall sent everything flying, leaving her wondering whether she had somehow entered a nightmare.
Although the experience was terrifying, Max said she was ultimately grateful that she made it through safely. At the time, she even worried that the incident might prevent her from singing again.
The accident has also changed the way she feels about elevators. Even though she continues to use them when necessary, Max admitted that she now feels uneasy whenever she steps inside one. She recently chose to climb 10 flights of stairs rather than ride an elevator.
Despite the frightening experience, Max has continued moving forward with her music career. Her most recent album, Don’t Click Play, arrived in August 2025. In 2026, she has released several new songs, including “Kill It Queen” and “Out of Your Mind.” She also teamed up with BIA on “Energy,” a song connected to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
