On March 4, the singer welcomed an unexpected guest when Ed Sheeran joined her onstage for a duet of his 2017 hit, Castle on the Hill. The moment delighted the audience as the two artists performed the popular track together.
Peters, 25, who previously served as an opening act for the English singer-songwriter during his 2023 tour, later posted a clip from the performance on Instagram. Alongside the video, the “Lost the Breakup” artist wrote that she was “singing with my boss,” referring to Sheeran.
In the caption, Peters thanked him for appearing at her show and performing what she described as one of her favorite songs. She added that she remembered watching him perform the track many times during their tour together and said it felt special to finally sing it with him onstage. She ended the message by praising Sheeran as “the best to ever do it.”
The “History of Man” singer is currently traveling across Australia for her Before the Bloom Tour. She is also preparing to release her third studio album, Florescence, which is scheduled to arrive in May.
Meanwhile, Sheeran, 35, is performing in Australia as part of his Loop Tour. His next scheduled concert will take place in the Dominican Republic on May 9, and his tour is expected to continue through November.
The two musicians have collaborated onstage before. During one of Peters’ previous concerts at OVO Arena Wembley in London, Sheeran joined her to perform his song Lego House.
In 2023, Peters spoke with People about the inspiration behind her second album, The Good Witch. While discussing the record, she referenced a lyric by Taylor Swift that captures the mix of emotions people often experience in their early twenties.
Peters explained that she wrote the album between the ages of 21 and 22 and views it as a snapshot of that stage in her life. She described the project as a “time capsule,” noting that a past relationship strongly influenced the themes of the record. According to the singer, the album explores ideas of femininity, power, destruction and control.
She also shared that creating the album allowed her to shape her own narrative. Peters referenced a lyric from her song BSC about writing someone out of her life, explaining that the line reflects the sense of empowerment she felt while making the project. Although she acknowledged that she doesn’t always feel that level of control in real life, she said the perspective helped her reclaim a sense of power after heartbreak.
Sheeran recently released his eighth studio album, Play, in September. Shortly before the album arrived, he told iHeartRadio Canada that he had already been working on another project titled Rewind. According to the singer, both albums were created at the same time, but Play was completed first because it felt like the most exciting release at the moment.
Sheeran added that Rewind is nearly finished and could arrive sometime within the next 18 months.
