Jessie J revealed in June 2025 that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Jessie J is looking back on the past year with positivity, even though she admits she hasn’t been feeling her best. The 37-year-old singer took the stage alongside other performers on BBC Two’s Jools Holland’s Annual Hootenanny 2025 on New Year’s Eve. Before delivering her rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way,” she opened up about the year she’s had — including the moment she publicly shared her breast cancer diagnosis.
Following her announcement in June 2025, the singer underwent a mastectomy. However, just six weeks later, she was hospitalized after doctors suspected a blood clot in her lungs. In August, Jessie J shared that her treatment plan would require another surgery, though the procedure was later delayed in October.
During her conversation with Holland, she encouraged audiences not to allow their hardest moments to shape their entire lives, according to The Daily Mirror. Reflecting on the year, she noted that it had been difficult for many people, describing it as a period of transformation and release, likening it to shedding old layers. She added that she hoped the challenges of the year might lead to greater unity, compassion, and trust in instincts as the world moves toward 2026.
The “Price Tag” singer also acknowledged that she hadn’t been in good health over the past year. Finding humor and optimism amid her recovery, she joked about her post-surgery body while emphasizing the importance of openly discussing both the struggles and lighter moments that come with cancer. She stressed that life shouldn’t be defined by its lowest points.
Despite everything, Jessie J said she remains deeply grateful, sharing that the positives in her life far outweigh the hardships she has faced this year.
