Katy Perry Fan With Disabilities Creates Heartfelt Handmade Artwork for the Pop Star

“This is incredible—absolutely brilliant,” the pop star said as fan Clara Woods presented her with the meaningful handmade artwork.
A devoted Katy Perry fan found a special way to express her admiration for the pop star despite being unable to speak, read or write.
Clara Woods attended a screening of Perry’s new concert movie, Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris, at AMC The Grove in Los Angeles on Aug. 26. During the event, Woods presented Perry with a hand-painted portrait she had created especially for the singer.
Woods’ brother, Davi Woods, helped introduce her to Perry and explained that Clara experiences communication difficulties as a result of a perinatal stroke, a type of stroke that occurs around the time of birth. For Clara, creating art provides an important way to communicate her feelings and express herself.
Perry was visibly delighted by the thoughtful gift. After looking at the artwork, she told Clara, “This is amazing, this is so brilliant,” before asking, “Can I put this in my office?”
The singer also embraced Clara in a warm hug, reflecting on the connection they share through what Perry described as “the language of music.”
Perry made a surprise appearance at the Los Angeles screening during the movie’s closing performance of “Firework.” She joined the audience and helped turn the theater into an impromptu dance party.
Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris runs for 132 minutes and was filmed during two sold-out performances in France.
Following the screening, Perry participated in a live question-and-answer session with Billboard host Tetris Kelly, discussing both the concert film and her Lifetimes tour.
The celebration also included a surprise cake marking the 16th anniversary of Perry’s landmark album Teenage Dream. Released in 2010, the record produced several major hits from her catalog, including “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “E.T.” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).”
During the post-screening conversation, Perry opened up about the meaningful relationship she has developed with her audience during live performances. She explained that her fans feel recognized and connected to her through both spoken communication and quieter, unspoken moments.
Perry added that she makes a point of making eye contact with people in the crowd while performing. Sometimes, she said, she connects with a particular fan who begins to cry, creating an intense and emotional exchange that can last 10 to 15 seconds.
