The pop singer took the stage alongside 10-year-old Tius during the opening ceremony in Los Angeles.

Katy Perry combined glamour and emotion during her appearance at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Los Angeles.

The 41-year-old singer performed on June 12, closing out the star-filled event before the United States faced Paraguay in its first match of the tournament. For the occasion, Perry wore a dazzling silver sequined gown from Stella McCartney’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection, pairing the eye-catching look with transparent wedge heels and silver accessories.

A special highlight of the performance was Perry’s collaboration with 10-year-old Norwegian singer Tius, whose vocals are featured on “Wonder,” a song from her 2024 album 143.

Ahead of the event, Perry introduced Tius to her followers through a social media post, sharing the story of how he became part of the track. She explained that Tius recorded his vocals when he was just 5 years old in 2021. After hearing the recording in 2023, Perry said she felt inspired to write the song’s verses and include it on her sixth studio album. Now 10 years old, Tius traveled from Norway to Los Angeles to join her on stage for the World Cup performance.

The ceremony also marked the first live performance of “Wonder.” Earlier in the week, while attending the premiere of Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour — Live from Paris at the Tribeca Festival, Perry hinted that she planned to perform a song fans had never heard her sing live before. She described it as a fitting choice for the occasion and expressed excitement about finally bringing it to the stage.

Perry was among several high-profile artists featured during the Los Angeles celebration, the final opening event of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Other performers included Future, Anitta, Lisa of BLACKPINK, Rema, and Tyla.

Before the match began, country music duo Dan + Shay delivered the U.S. national anthem, while Paraguayan group Purahéi Soul performed Paraguay’s national anthem.

The Los Angeles ceremony concluded a series of World Cup kickoff events that began in Mexico City on June 11 and continued with a celebration in Toronto later that same day.
