Meghan Trainor said she came to understand that she had been pushing herself too hard after she stopped drinking coffee.

Quitting coffee turned out to be one of the best choices Meghan Trainor says she’s made — and it all began after a psychic shared a warning with her husband, Daryl Sabara.

The 31-year-old singer recently spoke with PEOPLE while promoting her upcoming Get in Girl Tour and her new song “Still Don’t Care.” As she reflected on the challenges of touring while raising two children, she explained that her decision to give up coffee came after Sabara attended a psychic session.

According to Trainor, the psychic had never met her but told Sabara that his wife relied on coffee “like speed,” was constantly on the go, and was eventually burning herself out. Hearing that surprised Trainor, but once her husband shared the message, she decided to quit immediately. She said she had been drinking coffee throughout the day just to keep going, only to crash later and struggle to sleep at night.

At the time, she realized her body was under serious stress — her adrenal health felt depleted, her hormones were out of balance, and she wasn’t feeling well despite eating healthy and exercising. She ultimately recognized that she had been pushing herself too hard.

Stopping wasn’t easy. Trainor described the first week without coffee as very difficult, but she now says she has more energy than before and considers the change life-altering.

Looking ahead to her 2026 tour, she expects to maintain her usual fast-paced routine. Her days will start early with her kids, followed by family outings like visiting amusement parks or children’s museums, then soundchecks and early dinners before shows. She also described the hectic process of getting her children ready for bed backstage with help from family and their nanny before heading onstage each night.

Trainor said that after performing, she typically goes to sleep around midnight, only to wake up the next morning and repeat the same packed schedule.

The Get in Girl Tour supports her upcoming album Toy with Me, set for release in April 2026, following the launch of its lead single, “Still Don’t Care.”
