Nick Jonas Explains Why the Jonas Brothers Chose “Burning Up” as the Perfect Era to Revisit on Their Latest Tour

After wrapping up three consecutive sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden, Nick, Kevin and Joe Jonas are hitting the road once again, nearly two decades after the era that inspired their current Burning Up Tour.
The Jonas Brothers are embracing the Burning Up era once again—and according to Nick Jonas, there was a clear reason it felt like the right moment.
After selling out three consecutive shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City this August, Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas are taking the Burning Up Tour All Over Again across the United States, nearly two decades after the original tour introduced fans to that chapter of their career.
Before the tour resumes in Boston on Sept. 25, Nick, 33, reflected on why the band chose to revisit the A Little Bit Longer era, the 2008 album that featured the hit “Burnin Up.”
He explained that while creating new music, the trio naturally found themselves returning to the style and songwriting approach that shaped their early records, especially their self-titled album and A Little Bit Longer. Although each member has grown artistically over the years, Nick said those early influences remain the foundation of who they are as songwriters.
As they continued writing, the brothers noticed many of their new songs carried the energy of their early pop-punk and emo-inspired sound, but with a more modern twist. That creative direction ultimately made reviving the Burning Up tour feel like a natural extension of the new music they were making.
When the tour officially launched at Madison Square Garden on Aug. 20, longtime fans were treated to a nostalgic surprise as the brothers wore updated versions of outfits inspired by their 2008 tour wardrobe.
Nick praised stylist Sydney Lopez for capturing the spirit of their earlier looks without making them feel like costumes. He admitted it was amusing to revisit some of his old fashion choices, saying that looking back at past styles is simply part of growing up and learning more about yourself. Some memories bring pride, while others leave him wondering what he was thinking at the time.
Before arriving in Boston, the Jonas Brothers will make another major appearance by performing during halftime of the NFL’s first regular-season game in Australia on Sept. 11. The matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams will stream on Netflix on Sept. 10 at 8:35 p.m. EST.
