RAYE Says She’s “Absolutely” Holding Off on a New Album Until She Finds Love: “I’m on Strike”

The 28-year-old British singer revealed that she plans to call her third studio album And Then She Fell in Love.
RAYE is opening up about why fans may have to wait a while for her next album.
The 28-year-old British singer made the surprising announcement during her appearance on the Today show’s Citi Summer Concert Series on Thursday, Aug. 20.
After revealing that her third studio album will be titled And Then She Fell in Love, RAYE explained that she has made a firm decision not to begin recording it until she actually experiences the love described in the title.
“I’m basically on strike,” the “Where Is My Husband!” singer said during the 3rd Hour of Today. She explained that after years of songwriting, many of her songs have focused on heartbreak, failed relationships, loneliness and difficult experiences with former partners. Now, she said, she has grown tired of telling stories from that same emotional perspective.
Co-host Craig Melvin then asked for clarification, essentially wondering whether RAYE really intended to wait until she met the right person before releasing another album.
“Absolutely,” she replied, making it clear that she is serious about the decision. She even joked that fans could potentially be waiting as long as 10 years.
Al Roker suggested that love could come sooner, prompting RAYE to jokingly embrace his more optimistic prediction.
Whatever happens, RAYE said she is excited to experience new chapters in her life and allow those experiences to inspire her future music. She looks forward to discovering where life takes her and embracing its unexpected turns.
The Grammy-nominated artist most recently released her second album, This Music May Contain Hope, in March, following her acclaimed debut, My 21st Century Blues.
RAYE had already shared a similar plan during a TikTok Live in March. At the time, she said she wanted to step away from writing songs centered on being single, relationship disappointments and heartbreak. Instead, she envisioned her next record as a story about finally falling in love—and plans to wait until that happens before writing it.
