Swift said she hopes the experience becomes a lifelong memory for those involved.

Taylor Swift has shared words of encouragement with competitors preparing for the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The global pop star made a surprise appearance during the Milano Cortina Opening Ceremony, delivering a heartfelt message to athletes in a pre-recorded video segment.

“I just wanted to thank you,” Swift said in the clip, where she appeared wearing a Ralph Lauren Team USA Polo Bear long-sleeve shirt.

She went on to reflect on the journeys of the athletes, saying that learning about their backgrounds and witnessing the sacrifices behind their success had left a strong impression on her. Swift highlighted their discipline, perseverance, and passion, noting how inspiring it was to see what brought them to such an elite level in their sport.

The singer added that she was deeply appreciative of the dedication that led them to this moment and grateful that audiences are able to follow along as they compete on the world stage.

Closing her message, Swift wished the athletes a joyful and memorable Olympic experience, offering her best wishes for good fortune, safety, and an unforgettable journey.

Her appearance at the ceremony came shortly after the release of her new, celebrity-filled music video for “Opalite,” which debuted on Spotify and Apple Music earlier that day.

The video opens as a tongue-in-cheek advertisement for a fictional “Opalite” spray that claims to deliver instant happiness before evolving into a romantic storyline centered on unexpected connections, featuring a number of surprise cameos.

In an Instagram post, Swift revealed that the concept for the video first took shape while she was promoting her 12th studio album during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show in October 2025. She recalled feeling fortunate to be seated alongside a group of artists she had long admired, including Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleeson, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Lewis Capaldi.

Swift said she later decided it would be fun to involve her fellow guests — and Norton himself — likening the experience to a collaborative group project, only far more enjoyable.

She added that many participants enthusiastically leaned into a ’90s-inspired theme for the video, with some familiar faces from The Eras Tour also making appearances. According to Swift, the project exceeded her expectations, allowing her to form new friendships and explore creative ideas in the process.

“Opalite” appears on Swift’s latest album, Life of a Showgirl.
