The singer known for “Total Eclipse of the Heart” was placed in a medically induced coma in May following an emergency surgical procedure.

Bonnie Tyler is gradually recovering following a serious medical emergency. The 75-year-old Welsh singer underwent urgent intestinal surgery in Faro, Portugal, in early May and was subsequently placed in a medically induced coma.

On June 15, her family and management provided an update through her official website, confirming that she had regained consciousness but remained in intensive care due to her fragile condition. According to the statement, her health has shown signs of improvement, although doctors caution that her recovery will be lengthy. They remain optimistic about her eventual return to good health.

Because of her ongoing treatment, all performances scheduled through August have either been canceled or postponed until next year. Tyler had planned to perform approximately 24 concerts across Europe before the end of 2025. Her team expressed hope that the 14 shows scheduled between late October and mid-December will still proceed as planned.

The statement also conveyed apologies to fans and event promoters affected by the changes, asking for understanding during this challenging period. Representatives expressed their hope that supporters will be able to see Tyler perform again next year.

In addition, Tyler’s family thanked fans worldwide for their overwhelming support and well wishes. They noted that the singer is aware of the messages she has received and deeply appreciates the encouragement. The family also requested privacy and promised to share further updates when significant developments occur.

Tyler’s hospitalization was first announced on May 6. While initial reports indicated that the operation had been successful and that she was recovering, a follow-up update released two days later revealed that she had been placed in a medically induced coma shortly after surgery to assist with her recovery process.
