In a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon, the singer addressed rumors regarding the frozen accessory she carried to the May 6 event.

Camila Cabello is dispelling rumors about her controversial accessory at the 2024 Met Gala.

The 27-year-old singer shared her “stressful” red carpet experience during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, June 12. She also addressed the speculation about the price of her “purse,” which was actually a block of ice encasing a single bronze rose.

“There was a rumor that your purse cost $25,000 or something,” host Jimmy Fallon mentioned.

“I saw this TikTok with loads of comments and likes saying, ‘Camila Cabello is getting canceled because she spent $25,000 on this ice purse,'” Cabello responded. “I was like, ‘Guys, it’s frozen water. You can make it at home! It’s just the cost of water plus a rose we got from Etsy.'”

The Fifth Harmony alum recounted an incident where her purse broke just before she arrived at the iconic Met steps in New York City.

“Someone accidentally moved it, and right before I was about to get my picture taken, the clutch completely broke,” she remembered, referring to the purse’s strap. “I had poet laureate Amanda Gorman, rising actress Rachel Sennott, Kaia Gerber, and Emma Chamberlain all turn around and gasp because my purse had just broken.”

She continued, “I was stressed because this was unplanned, and the last thing you want is a bunch of famous people watching you have a breakdown right before you take your picture at the Met Gala.”

Cabello ended up holding the quickly melting purse as a clutch on the red carpet.

At the Monday, May 6 event, she explained to Extra that the custom Jane Wade purse was inspired by the “The Garden of Time” dress code and the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” theme.

“I feel like it represents impermanence and the decay of things over time, and there’s beauty in that,” she told the outlet.

The star noted that the rips at the bottom of her Ludovic de Saint Sernin gown, which according to Vogue, weighed 15 pounds and was embellished with 250,000 Swarovski crystals, also tied into the theme.

Cabello enhanced her glam with iridescent makeup and a wet-look ponytail, created by Sophia Sinot using L’Oréal Paris products. According to a press release, the look was designed to emphasize the “beauty of impermanence.” The singer also accessorized with jewelry from Ring Concierge and gold heels by Gianvito Rossi.
