Singer Charli XCX, 32, and George Daniel, 35, drummer for The 1975, officially became husband and wife during a quiet ceremony at Hackney Town Hall in London on Saturday, July 19.
The couple, who have been together for years, kept the celebration intimate. They exchanged vows in front of a small gathering that included close family and friends—among them Charli’s parents and members of Daniel’s band (excluding lead vocalist Matty Healy). Photos from the event captured the newlyweds smiling and sharing a kiss on the steps outside the venue.
For the occasion, Daniel opted for a simple suit, while Charli wore an elegant off-the-shoulder silk midi dress paired with a classic tulle veil. At one point, she was also seen rocking chunky black sunglasses, adding her signature flair to the look. Her engagement ring was prominently visible throughout.
Representatives for both artists did not provide immediate comments following the ceremony.
Charli—whose full name is Charlotte Aitchison—first hinted at their engagement in November 2023. She initially posted a glimpse of the ring on her private Instagram, then confirmed the news with a public post that included affectionate photos with Daniel and a tea tray featuring the engagement ring, suggesting how he proposed. Her caption read, “charli xcx and george daniel f—ing for life!!!”
Shortly after announcing their engagement, Charli appeared on the Spout Podcast, where she talked about her creative partnership with Daniel while working on her sixth album, Brat, released on June 7. Although Daniel wasn’t heavily involved, she revealed they collaborated on a few tracks and had some creative ideas brewing.
“This is my first time being in a relationship with someone I also make music with,” she said. “It’s a whole different experience—but a good one. There are a couple of songs he helped me with.”
Charli also shared how observing Daniel and The 1975’s creative process influenced her own. Known for working quickly and instinctively, she explained that she’s now more comfortable taking her time—revisiting songs, sharing drafts with friends, and refining her work over time.
Despite their successful collaboration, Charli admitted to Rolling Stone U.K. that working with Daniel in the studio can be intense, joking that she can sometimes be “such a bitch in the studio” with him.
