Christina Aguilera Shares the Reason She Felt ‘Terrified’ Singing from the Eiffel Tower’s Peak

Aguilera stopped by The Jennifer Hudson Show to talk about her forthcoming concert movie, Christina Aguilera: Christmas in Paris.
Performing high above Paris was both breathtaking and nerve-racking for Christina Aguilera.
On Tuesday, Dec. 9, the 44-year-old singer appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show to talk about her forthcoming concert film, Christina Aguilera: Christmas in Paris. During their conversation, she opened up about what the experience was truly like when she sang from the top of the iconic Eiffel Tower.
“Singing on the Eiffel Tower was… something else,” she said. “I’m terrified of heights. I won’t even get on a Ferris wheel because they scare me so much. I can handle roller coasters, but don’t leave me suspended in the air with a view straight down.”
Because of that fear, the “Genie in a Bottle” singer admitted, “I was absolutely scared.”
She continued, “You just keep rising higher and higher, and I’m not a fan of elevators either. So it felt like a double challenge.”
Aguilera told host Jennifer Hudson that she had a frightening moment while riding the elevator up to the top of the Eiffel Tower.
“It’s such a tight space, and as you’re rising, you can see everything around you — you’re completely exposed,” she explained. “Then suddenly the elevator jerked to a stop. The operator looked concerned and said, ‘That’s not normal.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean it’s not normal?’ ”
Hudson, also 44, reassured her that despite the scare, the performance was worth it. “It was such a stunning moment,” the host said. Aguilera agreed, describing it as “truly magical.”
Christina Aguilera: Christmas in Paris arrives in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of her holiday album My Kind of Christmas. Beyond her dramatic performance atop the Eiffel Tower, the “Beautiful” singer also recorded an intimate show for an audience of just 250 guests on a winter-garden terrace overlooking the Musée du Quai Branly, where she performed Christmas favorites along with some of her biggest hits.
According to a press release, the film also includes “dreamlike Parisian scenes and a striking cabaret-style segment filmed inside the iconic Crazy Horse.”
The project is produced by Fathom Entertainment, Vertigo Live Productions, and Roc Nation, and is directed and executive produced by Sam Wrench — known for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour and Billie Eilish: Live at the O2.
In the trailer, Aguilera reflects, “This film is a celebration. Paris during the holidays has a magic that’s all its own. Marking this milestone here feels poetic — the city is pure inspiration.”
Christina Aguilera: Christmas in Paris will play in theaters nationwide exclusively on Dec. 14 and Dec. 21.
