“Attempting to charm the identical feline companions who eluded me back in 2014, experiencing a parallel outcome,” noted the singer-songwriter in the caption of his Instagram post.

Ed Sheeran faced a challenging audience in Japan on Tuesday. The 32-year-old “Bad Habits” singer revisited the cat cafe where he previously serenaded unresponsive felines with “Thinking Out Loud” in 2014. Despite the 10-year gap, the cats remained unimpressed. Sheeran shared a video on Instagram, showcasing himself with an acoustic guitar amid a group of dining cats. As he strums his first chord, the majority of the felines hastily disperse, abandoning their food to evade the musical performance. Sheeran humorously captioned the post, “Attempting to charm the same kitties that ran away from me in 2014, with identical results.”

The social media clip commences with Sheeran inquiring of the assembly of cats, “Who wants to hear a song?” However, as the cats promptly scatter in response, Sheeran’s disappointment is evident, accompanied by a subtle pout.

“It was not more successful than my last visit,” Sheeran remarks. The video then transitions to footage from the singer’s 2014 sojourn to the cat cafe, capturing him performing for one unimpressed feline.

The Instagram video concludes in 2024, featuring close-up shots of the cafe cats gazing into the camera from a distance, seemingly anticipating Sheeran to cease his musical endeavors.

Supporters seized the chance to inject humor into the social media post’s comments section. One playful comment read, “They wanted to hear ‘Purrfect’ obviously 😂,” while another contributor humorously stated, “Ed Sheeran is my spirit animal.”

However, not every cat seems wary of the Grammy winner. In December, Sheeran posted a picture of himself snuggled up with Meredith Grey, one of Taylor Swift’s three cats, as part of a social media photo compilation.

Sheeran playfully captioned the post, “Dumpington #3.”

The endearing photograph captures the “Shape of You” singer, donning a simple white tee and smiling, with his face nestled close to the feline while they recline on an ottoman.

Swifties swiftly inundated the comments, expressing delight at glimpsing the cat rarely showcased by the “Lavender Haze” singer, 34.

“Ed confirming that Mer is alive is the highlight of my week 👏,” remarked one individual.

Another comment alluded to the possibility of Sheeran’s participation in the eagerly anticipated Reputation (Taylor’s Version) re-recording, stating, “END GAME (TAYLOR’S VERSION) WE CHEERED.”

Swift has disclosed in the past that among her three cats, Meredith, named after Ellen Pompeo’s character in Grey’s Anatomy, is inclined to avoid the limelight.

In 2020, Swift remarked, “The truth is, Meredith just hates having her picture taken,” explaining, “… So yeah, there it is. There’s the explanation. She’s just a really private little cat. She likes her business kept to herself. She doesn’t like a camera shoved in her face, and who can blame her? So there’s your update on Meredith.”
