Ed Sheeran Sets a Milestone as the First International Artist to Hold a Concert in Bhutan: ‘An Incredible Show’

“I’ve traveled the globe and seen some incredible places, but this is a completely unique experience,” the singer shared with the audience in Bhutan on Friday, Jan. 24.
Ed Sheeran is celebrating a groundbreaking achievement in his music career.
The 33-year-old “Bad Habits” artist announced that he has officially become the first international musician to perform a concert in Bhutan. On Saturday, Jan. 25, Sheeran posted a video on Instagram capturing memorable moments from his visit to the South Asian nation while reflecting on this historic milestone.
“Had the privilege of being the first international artist to perform in Bhutan last night,” he shared in the caption, referring to his Jan. 24 performance at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, the country’s capital. “What an unforgettable show, what an incredible country, and what an amazing group of people.”
Clearly moved by the experience, he added humorously, “Let me know if I can move here—thank you in advance.”
In the video, the four-time Grammy winner reflected on the significance of his musical milestone. “It’s crazy to think this is the first international concert here,” he remarked while standing near the stage at the Bhutan venue. “I hope it paves the way for many more in the future.”
Sheeran also shared a special highlight from his visit: dining with Bhutan’s royal couple, King Jigme Khesar and Queen Jetsun Pema. “I had dinner with the king and queen yesterday,” he revealed. “They told me, ‘We want visitors who come here to love and respect the country and embrace its values.’ “
Sheeran continued, saying, “I feel incredibly honored to have been chosen for this and can’t wait to perform. This is totally my vibe.”
The video then transitions to clips of Sheeran electrifying the stage during the concert, with the audience cheering and jumping in excitement. At one point, he spoke to the crowd, sharing, “I’ve traveled the world and visited some incredible places, but I’ve never experienced anything quite like this.”
“Getting the chance to visit a country like Bhutan and stand onstage to bring this show here is truly special,” he shared. “I still remember performing in empty rooms, and now I’ve had the honor of playing the first-ever international concert in Bhutan.”
In July 2024, Ed Sheeran revealed that his extensive Mathematics World Tour, which began in April 2022, would officially wrap up in 2025.
“2025 marks the end of the Mathematics Tour,” he announced in an Instagram video at the time. “We’ll be doing major shows across Europe, with even more dates to be announced soon.”
In the caption, the “Bad Habits” singer hinted at plans to perform in “many of the remaining places we haven’t visited yet, but the first dates being announced are for the rest of Europe.”
The European leg of the tour is set to begin in Madrid, Spain, on May 5, with additional performances in Rome, Oslo, Zurich, Stockholm, and Copenhagen. Sheeran will conclude the European segment with a final show in Düsseldorf, Germany, on September 9.
