Joe Jonas Shares He Became Part of the Mile High Club and Accidentally High-Fived a Flight Attendant Afterwards

During an appearance on the NowThis show Are You Okay?, Joe recounted the experience and admitted it was totally worth it.
Joe Jonas has admitted that he’s part of the mile-high club.
Speaking on the NowThis series Are You Okay?, the 36-year-old Jonas Brothers star shared that he once had an intimate encounter with a partner in an airplane bathroom—an experience that quickly turned into an embarrassing situation.
“In New York City, I talked about joining the mile-high club a few years back,” Jonas explained. “I was wearing contacts at the time, walked out of the bathroom, and thought I was giving my drummer a high-five—turns out, it was actually the flight attendant.”
Luckily, the incident wasn’t as bad as it could have been. “It happened on a private flight,” he added. “Otherwise, I probably wouldn’t be allowed to fly again.”
When asked if the mile-high club encounter was worth it, Joe smirked and replied, “Yeah.”
Chances are, he wouldn’t repeat the same mistake today. Joe has openly shared that he underwent EVO ICL surgery to correct his vision.
“I’ve been performing and touring with my brothers since I was 15, and after long days, I always hated worrying about sleeping in my contacts or misplacing my glasses. I just wanted the freedom of waking up and being able to see clearly,” he explained in a statement to Brinton Vision.
According to the Cake by the Ocean singer, the procedure was simple, and afterward, he enjoyed “crisp, clear vision, both during the day and at night.”
In the same Are You Okay? episode, Joe also laughed about a recurring mix-up that keeps him humble. “It happens pretty often,” he admitted. “Someone will come up and say, ‘Can I get a picture with you?’ and then hand me their phone—because they actually want a photo with Nick.”
Right now, Joe, Nick, and Kevin are on the road for their JONAS20: Greetings from Your Hometown Tour, with their next performance set for Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Empower Federal Credit Union Amphitheater in Syracuse, New York.
Throughout the tour, the Jonas Brothers have surprised fans by bringing out special guests, including Demi Lovato, Switchfoot, Jesse McCartney, Dean Lewis, All Time Low, The Click Five, Hanson, Cartel, and Hoobastank.
Speaking with PEOPLE before the tour kicked off, Joe explained that the group wanted to create a live experience that stood apart. “We wanted to give the audience something completely different from what they’ve seen from us before,” he said.
