Megan Thee Stallion is addressing head-on the circulating rumors that she was barred from the 2025 Met Gala for breaking the event’s strict no-phone policy.
Despite the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s well-known rule against phone use, Megan did capture and share moments from the glamorous evening. Since then, speculation has emerged that her behavior may have led to her being banned from the prestigious fashion gathering.
In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE on May 13, where she also discussed her collaboration with Airbnb for the Otaku Hottie Quest Experience, the 30-year-old rapper cleared the air.
“Let’s put an end to these rumors right now,” Megan firmly told PEOPLE. “Everybody’s been saying, ‘Megan, you got kicked out of the Met Gala.’ That’s simply not true, babe.”
She added, “Y’all ran with that story. But it’s all made up. Anna [Wintour] loves me, okay? That’s why I had my phone out.”
On the night of the event, Megan posted clips from inside the Met, showing her alongside singer Doechii and WNBA star Angel Reese sampling the event’s menu. In her May 5 post, she jokingly acknowledged, “We know we’re not supposed to have our phones, but we’re doing it anyway.”
For her look, Megan stunned in a custom Michael Kors ensemble—a dazzling, silver, cleavage-revealing gown complemented by an oversized white fur coat. She completed the look with a towering, multi-tiered ponytail, taking inspiration from the legendary Josephine Baker to match the night’s “Tailored for You” theme.
Reflecting on the eye-catching hairstyle, Megan shared that it was no challenge for her. “I wear wigs that weigh 10 pounds on a regular basis,” she said with a laugh. “I’m always wearing a lot of hair, so my neck is strong.”
She joked, “Honestly, I’m surprised my neck doesn’t have abs by now. That ponytail? That was light work. Just another normal day for me.”
