Megan Thee Stallion is gearing up for an exciting 2024!
In a conversation with PEOPLE regarding her collaboration with Planet Fitness, the 28-year-old rapper also discusses her plans for releasing new music after the debut of her single “Cobra” in November.
Acknowledging that the track “signaled a fresh chapter in my life and career,” Megan expresses, “I really wanted to showcase the rebirth of Megan and set that tone with the song and the video.”
When questioned about whether the upcoming year will bring forth new music to unveil the transformed Megan, the Grammy Award winner remains elusive, stating, “All I can reveal is that the Hotties should stay tuned.”
“Cobra” stands as Megan’s inaugural single since the resolution of the legal dispute with her former record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, in October.
During that period, 1501 Certified Entertainment made a public announcement on social media, disclosing that Megan and the label had “jointly achieved a confidential settlement to address their legal disputes” following a legal conflict spanning over three years. (PEOPLE subsequently verified that the resolution favored Megan.)
Instead, “Cobra” was launched under Megan’s recently established independent music and entertainment venture, Hot Girl Productions, introducing a “new challenge” for her.
“But it’s been genuinely thrilling and satisfying thus far,” Megan elaborates. “I am genuinely eager to construct an empire and expand as an entrepreneur, not only in the music industry but also in other domains such as TV and film. It has been an enlightening experience.”
Regarding the song as a whole, Megan shares with PEOPLE, “I’m thrilled that the message connected with numerous individuals.”
“I genuinely valued all the supportive messages following the song’s release,” she further comments. “Life is a continuous journey of growth and evolution, and I relished the opportunity to reveal a new facet of myself to the Hotties.”
This year, Megan is set to take the stage on the Planet Fitness platform in Times Square during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2024.
“It’s a privilege to be a part of this iconic New Year’s Eve tradition,” she expresses. “While growing up, I used to watch people welcome the New Year in Times Square on TV, so I feel blessed to have the chance to perform on this national stage and inaugurate my new collaboration with Planet Fitness in a special manner.”
“I’m eager to see all my Hotties out there, and we’re definitely going to bring the heat to New York City,” Megan adds.
Regarding her New Year’s resolutions for 2024, the artist shares with PEOPLE, “I simply aim to continue evolving into the best version of Megan Thee Stallion, achieve my fitness objectives, and continue to rise as an artist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist.”
