Meghan Trainor Reveals the One Piece of Mom Advice Kelly Clarkson Gave Her — and Why She Didn’t Take It (Exclusive)

Trainor says Clarkson gave her “great advice” before she hit the road for her Timeless Tour last year

Meghan Trainor is getting real about the demands she faces as a pop-star mom.

Last fall, the pop star hit the road for her Timeless Tour, which she tells PEOPLE “was the hardest thing I’ve done in a long time.”

Before going on tour, Trainor, 31, says she got some “great advice” from a pop-star peer: Kelly Clarkson.

“She said, ‘Don’t try to be a Supermom and do everything,'” Trainor — who just teamed up with e.l.f. Cosmetics for a makeup collab bundle and will drop a 10th-anniversary rerelease of her debut album Title on March 28 — recalls of her conversation with Clarkson, 42. “I have no control over myself. So I did everything.”

The Timeless Tour was a family affair for Trainor, who was joined by her husband, Spy Kids actor Daryl Sabara, 32, and their two sons Riley, who turns 4 in February, and Barry, 18 months.
