Miley Cyrus Breaks Down in Tearful Performance for Heartfelt ‘More to Lose’ Video

“More to Lose” marks the fourth track unveiled from Cyrus’ forthcoming album, Something Beautiful.
Miley Cyrus is opening up emotionally in her latest release.
On May 9, the Grammy-winning artist, now 32, debuted her newest track “More to Lose” accompanied by a minimalist video. In the visual, Cyrus appears in high-fashion attire, allowing her emotions to surface as she reflects on a failing relationship.
In the heartfelt chorus, she sings, “I stay / When the ecstasy is far away / And I pray / That it’s comin’ ’round again,” expressing the pain of holding on when things fall apart. “And you say it / But I wish it wasn’t true, oh / I knew someday that one would have to choose / I just thought we had more to lose.”
The video begins with Cyrus, known for her hit “Flowers,” dressed in the quirky ensemble featured on her Something Beautiful album cover, singing straight into the camera.
As the second verse unfolds, she switches to a sleeveless, floor-length black dress while tears gently stream down her cheeks, mirroring the song’s lyrics: “The TV’s on, but I don’t know / My tears are streamin’ like our favorite show tonight.”
In the final moments of the understated yet emotional video, Cyrus appears wearing a black trench coat, her face partly concealed by sheer, dark fabric.
“More to Lose” is set to feature on Cyrus’ upcoming album, Something Beautiful, which is scheduled for release on May 30. The track follows her recent singles, including “Prelude,” “Something Beautiful,” and “End of the World,” all of which will also appear on the album.
Alongside the album, Cyrus will release an accompanying film, which she recently previewed during a special Spotify event at New York City’s Metrograph. The film will officially debut at the Tribeca Festival on June 6.
During a Q&A session at the event, Cyrus reflected on the deep bond she shares with her fans, many of whom have been with her since her Hannah Montana days.
“People often tell me we grew up together, and that’s exactly how it feels,” she shared. “I think that’s what makes this film feel so powerful and unique—it’s really something we’ve all created together. It’s an amazing experience to be surrounded by people I’ve never met before, but who don’t feel like strangers.”
She added, “Sure, we’re all a bit quirky, but I think that’s why we’ve held onto this connection for so long. It’s funny to walk into a room of unfamiliar faces and say, ‘Remember when my house burned down?’ and you all do. Or, ‘Remember when my fish died?’ and everyone remembers that too.”
