Miley Cyrus is sharing insights into her former marriage with Liam Hemsworth.

After candidly addressing career moments that were once considered controversial in her “Used to Be Young” TikTok series, the 30-year-old superstar took a pause to delve into something she described as “truly significant.”

In a TikTok video posted on Wednesday, the singer of “Flowers” disclosed the pivotal moment when she realized her marriage to the 33-year-old Australian actor was coming to an end.

The pop icon clarified that the epiphany occurred at the Glastonbury music festival in June 2019, stating, “Glastonbury was in June, which coincided with the time when the decision was finalized.”

She elaborated that despite having been in a relationship since 2010, their wedding in December 2018 occurred following a tragic event in their relationship when their home was destroyed by the California wildfires in November 2018. The singer-songwriter explained, “Me and Liam’s decision to get married was rooted in love, as we had been together for a decade, but it also stemmed from a place of trauma and the desire to rebuild as quickly as possible.”

The artist behind “Midnight Sky” went on to say, “The day of the [Glastonbury] performance marked the moment when I concluded that our relationship was no longer viable for me.”

Cyrus also shared what she has learned from that experience. She stated candidly, “It was another instance where work, performance, and persona took precedence. I suppose that’s why it’s now paramount to me that it should not be the case—putting the human aspect before everything else.”

Several months following Cyrus’ Glastonbury performance, Hemsworth initiated divorce proceedings in August 2019, and they ultimately settled their divorce officially in early 2020.

In her “Used to Be Young” series, which Cyrus has been sharing online since late August to support her new single with the same name, the “Wrecking Ball” singer has also reminisced about fond moments from her time with Hemsworth.

In one video, she reminisced about their initial meeting on the set of the 2010 romantic film, The Last Song. The former Hannah Montana star reflected, “I believe one of the reasons that movie felt so special was witnessing two very young individuals falling in love with each other, which was unfolding in real time and real life. So, the chemistry was undeniable, and that marked the beginning of a decade-long relationship.”

She also shared memories of the home the couple once shared in Malibu, revealing that she had worked on her debut album, “Meet Miley Cyrus” from 2007, there with producer Matthew Wilder.

In her TikTok video, she expressed, “The ‘Meet Miley Cyrus’ album was truly where I started crafting my own solo songs, and I collaborated with a producer in Malibu who resided in a house in Ramirez Canyon. Little did I know, 15 years later, I would be living in that very house, which tragically later succumbed to fire.”

Cyrus continued, saying, “That house held so much enchantment for me; it ultimately played a pivotal role in transforming my life.”
