Olivia Rodrigo returned to the red carpet, this time in support of a meaningful cause.
On April 24, the Grammy-winning artist was recognized with the Catalyst of Change Award by Planned Parenthood during its Spring into Action Gala. The event took place at Cipriani South Street in New York City, where Rodrigo made a stylish appearance.
She wore a stunning white gown featuring a scoop neckline and delicate straps that met at the chest. The floor-length dress included a subtle slit, revealing her silver heels beneath.
Keeping her accessories understated, Rodrigo chose small earrings and a pop of color with a bright pink lipstick. Her hair was sleekly tucked behind her ears, completing the refined look as she accepted the honor.
While accepting the award, 22-year-old Olivia Rodrigo shared that one of the most meaningful aspects of her career has been the deep connection she’s formed with women through her music.
“When I perform, I see crowds full of young women, and the bond we share feels incredibly meaningful,” she said. “Creating a space where we can all be free, expressive, and unfiltered is something truly powerful.”
She went on to reflect, “But I often ask myself—what happens once they leave those shows? What world are they stepping back into? Too often, that world tries to control our bodies and uses harmful beliefs to restrict our access to safety and healthcare. It’s devastating to think that because of unjust laws and outdated systems, some of those girls might never get the chance to pursue their dreams like I have.”
Rodrigo has consistently used her platform to champion the rights of women and girls globally. During her Sour Tour stop in Washington, D.C. in 2022, she voiced her heartbreak over a leaked Supreme Court draft suggesting Roe v. Wade would be overturned—a decision that ultimately came to pass later that year, stripping away federal protections for abortion rights.
“Our bodies should never be controlled by politicians,” Rodrigo declared. “It’s crucial that we speak out to defend our right to safe abortion—a right that generations before us fought tirelessly to secure.”
Ahead of her Guts World Tour kickoff in February 2024, the singer introduced the Fund 4 Good, a global initiative aimed at promoting equity and justice for women and girls. The program supports grassroots organizations focused on education for girls, reproductive freedom, and the prevention of gender-based violence.
