Rihanna Responds to Spotify Milestone ‘Without Releasing a New Album’: ‘Allow Me to Express My Thoughts’

Rihanna, the renowned artist known for “Only Girl (in the World),” has achieved a remarkable feat on Spotify, surpassing records without releasing new music for years.
In response to the news that she has become the first female artist with 10 songs crossing the 1 billion streams milestone on the platform, the 35-year-old Grammy winner expressed her reaction on Twitter and Instagram.
“Bad Gal billi,” she proudly declared, making a reference to her notable achievement as the youngest self-made female billionaire in the United States.
Furthermore, Rihanna highlighted the significance of her accomplishment by stating, “With no new album,” emphasizing that her latest album, Anti, was released back in 2016.
“I want to express myself freely,” she concluded her post, accompanied by emojis depicting a sticking-out tongue and the Barbados flag.

In an interview with British Vogue for their March issue, Rihanna candidly discussed the pressure she feels regarding the release of new music following her highly acclaimed album, Anti, which she described as her most brilliant and cohesive work.
She shared her internal struggle, stating, “There’s this self-imposed pressure on me. If it’s not surpassing the brilliance of that album, then it’s not worth it.”
Recognizing the toxicity of this mindset, she emphasized that it’s not the right approach to approach music. Music is meant to be an outlet and a creative space where one can freely express themselves. It doesn’t necessarily have to conform to any particular scale or standard. As Rihanna pointed out, it could be as simple as a song she personally enjoys; the important thing is that it feels good to her.

Rihanna further expressed, “I’ve come to the realization that if I keep waiting for the perfect moment, it might never come, and I don’t want to wait forever. I want to take action. When I say ‘play,’ I mean I have creative concepts in mind, but I’m not ready to reveal them just yet.”
She enthusiastically shared her desire for the new album to be released within this year, emphasizing that it would be quite astonishing if it doesn’t happen.
In October 2022, after an absence of nearly seven years, the talented singer-songwriter unveiled her latest song titled “Lift Me Up.” This emotional track holds a special place on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack and serves as a heartfelt tribute to the beloved late actor, Chadwick Boseman.
