Carpenter playfully alluded to Kidman’s famous AMC commercial.
Sabrina Carpenter seemed to know Nicole Kidman was at her Nashville show for a bit of “magic.”
During her concert on Tuesday, November 4, the 26-year-old pop star playfully “arrested” the Oscar winner, 58, using her trademark pink fuzzy handcuffs. “We come to this arena for magic, right?” Carpenter quipped, nodding to Kidman’s well-known AMC Theatres ad that famously plays before movies.
“Oh my goodness,” Carpenter exclaimed as cameras zoomed in on Kidman in the crowd, prompting roaring cheers from the audience. Laughing, she added, “I was expecting to find love tonight, but not my soulmate.”
As part of her usual concert bit, Carpenter asked Kidman her name and hometown. When the actress replied, Carpenter joked, “Well, you live in Nashville—so if this works out, I guess I’m moving here.”
Carpenter continued to tease, referencing Kidman’s 2024 movie Babygirl: “You’re so Babygirl, I don’t even know what to do.” She then asked if Kidman would be her “Juno girl” for the night, handing her the pink handcuffs before dedicating her performance of Juno—a track from her Short n’ Sweet album—to the actress.
Kidman joins a growing list of stars who have been “arrested” onstage by Carpenter, including Gigi Hadid, Emma Bunton, Joe Keery, and Margaret Qualley.
Recently, news broke that Kidman and her husband, Keith Urban, had separated after nearly 20 years of marriage. PEOPLE confirmed on September 29 that the actress had filed for divorce just a day after reports of their split surfaced. The pair share two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. Kidman is also mom to Bella, 32, and Connor, 30, from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise.
Kidman, Urban, and their daughters had been based in Nashville, where they bought their family home—nicknamed the “Queen of Northumberland”—in 2008, about two years after tying the knot. According to TMZ, the couple had reportedly been living apart since early summer.
