Sabrina Carpenter Interrupts Quinta Brunson’s SNL Opening as They Share a Laugh About Being the Same Height Since Childhood

The ‘Abbott Elementary’ actress returned to host the late-night sketch comedy show for the second time on May 3.

On May 3, the 35-year-old Abbott Elementary star hosted Saturday Night Live for a second time, with musical guest Benson Boone joining the episode.
In her opening remarks, Brunson expressed her excitement about being back on the iconic sketch show, humorously noting that she’s “living proof you can achieve anything you set your sights on—even if others literally or figuratively look down on you.”
“Whether it’s because of your background or the fact that you’re just 4 feet 11 inches tall,” she quipped. “Yep, I’m short. No shame in that. They even wanted me to play a child on Abbott Elementary—a show I created!”
Brunson went on to say she embraces her height and wants other shorter individuals to feel empowered too. “The sky’s the limit for us,” she said, dedicating the night to fellow “shorties” before launching into a comedic musical number celebrating her stature.
Brunson gave a shoutout to some iconic fellow “shorties,” such as Simone Biles, Kendrick Lamar, and Tom Holland—right before being joined onstage by Sabrina Carpenter.
The duo shared a playful moment as they bonded over things like enjoying short ribs and reading short stories, continuing their light-hearted musical tribute to being petite. Toward the end of the number, Marcello Hernandez and Dwyane Wade also made appearances.
Together, they sang: “That’s how we prefer our films—and our page margins too. We’ve stayed the same height since kindergarten. Being fun-sized just makes life better.”
Throughout the episode, Brunson appeared in a range of sketches, including one where she took on the role of historical figure Harriet Tubman, and another in which she played an eccentric elderly mother discussing an unusual life insurance plan.
In a separate skit, she portrayed a staff member at a leadership summit that quickly spirals out of control.
As for the musical entertainment, 22-year-old Benson Boone made his SNL debut. He kicked off his set with “Sorry I’m Here For Someone Else” from his Fireworks & Rollerblades album, then returned to perform “Mystical Magical.”
