Sabrina Carpenter Shares She Lives Without a TV in Her Apartment: ‘I Feel Really Old-Fashioned and Out of Touch’

A look inside Sabrina Carpenter’s apartment comes with one surprise—there’s no television in sight.
In a cover feature for Interview Magazine published Tuesday, Sept. 2, the 26-year-old pop star admitted she doesn’t spend time watching TV.
“I actually don’t own a television,” she shared. “It probably makes me seem really out of touch and kind of old-fashioned, but when I’m at home, I just listen to music.”
Carpenter explained that her go-to playlist includes classic acts she grew up with. “That’s really all I’ve ever known. Recently, I’ve been playing a lot of The Blue Nile,” she said, adding that the ’70s are her comfort zone when it comes to music.
Her admiration for groups like Fleetwood Mac and ABBA, she noted, will never fade, though she also enjoys exploring albums she hasn’t heard before. “Sometimes you stumble on a song and think, ‘How wasn’t this a hit? It feels like one to me,’” Carpenter explained.
She often makes these discoveries either through Spotify or while browsing record stores. What draws her in, she added, is the experience of listening to a full body of work: “Some albums aren’t just about the singles—they’re meant to be played from beginning to end because of the way they make you feel.”
That philosophy shaped her creative process for Man’s Best Friend, her latest album. “I thought, what if I just wrote exactly what I was feeling in this chapter of my life? Even if it only reflects a couple of months, it’s still captured forever,” she said.
Man’s Best Friend, Carpenter’s seventh studio album, dropped on Friday, Aug. 29. It follows her 2024 release Short n’ Sweet, which produced the hit tracks “Espresso,” “Taste,” “Please Please Please” and “Bed Chem.”
