Sabrina Carpenter has something especially sweet to celebrate.
The 25-year-old pop star achieved her first No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with the release of her sixth studio album, Short n’ Sweet, on August 23.
Carpenter’s latest LP debuted at the top of the Billboard 200, amassing the equivalent of 362,000 album units. This pushed Travis Scott’s official release of his 2014 mixtape Days Before Rodeo to the No. 2 spot, according to Luminate via Billboard.
Short n’ Sweet marks the third-largest debut of 2024, following Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter with 407,000 units and Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department, which leads with 2.61 million units, as reported by Variety.
News of the “Sharpest Tool” singer’s chart-topping success comes shortly after she made a subtle remark seemingly alluding to Nicki Minaj’s 2018 battle for the No. 1 spot, when her album Queen faced off against Travis Scott’s Astroworld.
“this one’s for nicki,” Carpenter posted on Thursday, August 29, via X (formerly known as Twitter).
Later that evening, Minaj showed her support for the Girl Meets World star, saying, “Shout out Sabrina Carpenter, shout out all the Sabrina Carpenter fans.”
Back in 2018, the “Barbie World” artist, then 41, appeared to take issue with how Travis Scott’s tour and merchandise sales were factored into his chart performance, claiming that Billboard didn’t allow her to do the same.
“Travis sold over 50K of these. With no requirement of redeeming the album,” Minaj wrote on X. “With no dates for a tour, etc. I spoke to him. He knows he doesn’t have the #1 album this week.”
Minaj also criticized Scott’s then-girlfriend Kylie Jenner and brought Drake into her online outburst.
She added, “I poured my blood, sweat & tears into writing a dope album, only for Travis Scott to have Kylie Jenner post a tour pass telling people to come see her & Stormi.”
During her online tirade, the rapper also pointed out how women are often “systemically blackballed out of their positions” without the ability to “fight back.”
