Gomez and Blanco’s album I Said I Love You First is set to be released in March.
Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have dropped the second single from their upcoming album.
Teaming up with Gracie Abrams, the couple released Call Me When You Break Up along with its music video on Thursday, Feb. 20. This bubblegum pop track marks the first glimpse of their highly anticipated album, I Said I Love You First.
In the video, Gomez, 32, and Abrams, 25, sing together in a playful selfie-style recording. A promotional photo featuring the duo in matching bobs and T-shirts alongside Blanco, 36, has sparked nostalgia among fans.
One fan even edited the Disney Channel logo onto the image, referencing Gomez’s Disney roots, while another commented, “Wait, it kind of feels like ‘And you’re watching Disney Channel!’ lol.”
Earlier this year, Gomez and Blanco hinted at new music before officially releasing Scared of Loving You, the first single from their upcoming album, on Feb. 13. The duo previously collaborated in 2015 on Kill Em with Kindness and Same Old Love from Gomez’s Revival album.
Blanco and Abrams also have a history of working together, having teamed up for the 2021 track Unlearn.
During a conversation with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, the artists opened up about their latest song and their shared passion for music.
“For as long as I’ve loved music, both of their work [Gomez and Blanco] has been a part of my life,” Abrams shared. “So anything they ask of me is always a yes. I was just so grateful for the opportunity, and the song instantly got stuck in my head the first time I heard it.”
Abrams also reflected on her contribution to the track, saying, “Writing my verse happened so quickly, which just goes to show how addictive the song is.”
Blanco expressed his excitement about collaborating with his fiancée and shared how the album naturally came together. “It all started as an idea in our bedroom—just a fun experiment. But then it actually turned out really good, and I thought, ‘Wow, we have to do this.’”
He went on to describe the organic creative process behind the album. “Everyone who worked on this with us wasn’t thinking, ‘Let’s sit down and make a hit.’ It was more like, ‘Hey, Julia, Justin, want to come over?’ We’ve all written together for 15 years, including with Selena. Everything just clicked—it almost felt too good to be true.”
Gomez shared the same sentiment, expressing her deep pride in the project. “There’s nothing that makes me more proud than standing by everything I’ve done, truly loving it, and pouring my heart into it,” she told Lowe.
She added that this philosophy extends beyond music. “That applies to everything in my life. This entire experience has been both cathartic and beautiful—and the best part is, I got to do it with my best friend.”
