Taylor Swift Achieves a Milestone with 13 Weeks at No. 1 on Albums Chart Following a Short Drop from the Top Position

Taylor Swift has yet another reason to celebrate her “lucky number” 13!
On Sunday, August 4, the pop icon’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, reclaimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart, achieving its 13th week at the top, as reported by Billboard.
In her remarkable 18-year career, none of Swift’s previous albums have come close to this record. Before Tortured Poets, her longest stint at No. 1 was 11 weeks, achieved by both Fearless and 1989.
Swift’s accomplishment is even more remarkable considering that the first 12 weeks at No. 1 for Tortured Poets were consecutive, meaning she dominated the chart for nearly three straight months after the album’s release in April.
After briefly losing the top spot in late July to Eminem’s latest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), Swift shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, thanking her fans for their support in making this chart feat possible.
“I also wanted to say to everyone who’s supported The Tortured Poets Department, I am completely blown away by what you’ve done. It stayed at No. 1 for the first 12 weeks of its release, which has never happened with any of my albums before—not even close!” wrote Swift on July 20. “You’re just the greatest.”
The relentless success of the “Fortnight” singer’s 11th studio album has been bolstered by a series of new variants released by Swift. These editions feature previously unheard demos from Tortured Poets, live recordings from her record-breaking Eras Tour, and even new songs.
Swift surprised fans with one such release on Saturday, dropping a digital version of the album that included a “First Draft Voice Memo” version of the Tortured Poets track “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys,” which was available for only 24 hours on her website.
In addition to setting new chart records this summer, Swift has achieved several other milestones as her global Eras Tour continues through Europe, recently performing for three nights in Warsaw, Poland.
“I’m in a fantastic mood tonight,” Swift told the Polish crowd on her final night in the city, noting that the Eras Tour was the first concert tour to sell out three consecutive nights at PGE Narodowy stadium.
“Warsaw, you have exceeded any dream I could have had for how amazing a crowd could be,” the star added.
Swift will next head to Vienna, Austria, for three nights in the capital city before returning to London for a five-night Eras Tour extravaganza at Wembley Stadium, closing out her summer shows and the European leg of the tour. In October, she’ll embark on the final leg of her concert tour de force, performing in five cities across North America in the fall.
As for Tortured Poets, there’s no reason Swift couldn’t continue to rack up more weeks at No. 1, surpassing her lucky number and further solidifying the album’s dominance on the chart.
