Taylor Swift Donates $5 Million for Hurricane Helene and Milton Relief Efforts: ‘Our Gratitude Is Beyond Words’

Hurricane Milton, projected to hit on Wednesday night, is anticipated to become the most expensive disaster in Florida’s history.
Taylor Swift has made a significant donation to assist those affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
On Wednesday, Oct. 9, Feeding America took to Instagram to express their appreciation for the pop star’s generous $5 million contribution.
“We’re deeply thankful to Taylor Swift for her remarkable $5 million donation toward relief efforts for Hurricanes Helene and Milton. This support will aid communities in rebuilding by providing vital food, clean water, and supplies to those impacted by these destructive storms,” wrote Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America.
She added, “Together, we can make a meaningful difference in helping families navigate the challenges ahead. Thank you, Taylor, for joining us in the fight against hunger and for supporting those in need.”
In their Instagram caption, Feeding America expressed their gratitude to Taylor Swift, 34, for her support, saying, “Thank you for standing with us and the movement to end hunger, and for helping communities in need after #HurricaneHelene and #HurricaneMilton. Together, we can truly make a difference in assisting families as they face the challenges ahead.” They also encouraged followers to “join Taylor if you’re able to” by making donations.
According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Milton will bring “life-threatening” dangers to Florida’s western coast, with the central and southern regions, especially the Tampa Bay area, being the hardest hit. Initially a Category 5 storm with winds over 160 mph, Milton has since weakened to a Category 3.
Hurricane Milton is expected to be the most expensive disaster in Florida’s history, surpassing the record set just two years ago by Hurricane Ian. WTVJ veteran meteorologist John Morales noted that Milton has already surpassed Ian in terms of peak intensity.
On Oct. 5, AP News reported that the death toll from Hurricane Helene had risen to 227, with many individuals still missing or unaccounted for.
This isn’t the first time Taylor Swift has stepped in to help during a crisis. In December of last year, the “Down Bad” singer donated $1 million to the Tennessee Emergency Response Fund at the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee after deadly tornadoes swept through the state. The storms caused widespread destruction, claiming six lives, including two children.
More recently, in June, Swift made donations to food banks during her U.K. Eras Tour. According to Rachel Biggs, CEO of Cardiff Foodbank, Swift’s contribution provided “1,200 people with three meals a day for three days — a total of 10,800 meals.”
