On Tuesday, the singer behind “Cruel Summer” took to her Instagram account, boasting 272 million followers, to motivate her fans to participate in the forthcoming midterm elections. She shared a statement on her Instagram Stories, asking, “Have you registered to vote yet?”
Acknowledging the recent encounters with her fans during her Eras Tour in the United States, she continued, “I’ve been fortunate to witness many of you at my recent US shows. I’ve heard you raise your voices, and I’m aware of their tremendous power. Ensure you’re prepared to wield that power in this year’s elections!”
The artist behind “Cruel Summer” concluded her message with a link to Vote.org, stating, “Register to vote in less than 2 minutes at vote.org/nvrd.”
It’s worth noting that earlier this year, Swift also encouraged her audience to participate in voting. In July, she urged her Nashville fans to take part in the hotly contested mayoral election in the city.
On her Instagram Story, she posted a selfie proudly displaying an “I voted today” sticker. Over the image, she added the message, “Hi Nashville! Early voting for our city officials and some statewide seats begins today.”
The Grammy-winning artist went on to emphasize the significance of this opportunity, stating, “We have the chance to select those who will represent us for the next four years. I cast my vote today, and I strongly encourage each and every one of you to do the same and ensure your voice is heard.”
The artist known for “Karma” also stressed the importance of Swifties (Taylor Swift’s fans) participating in the 2020 election.
It’s important to note that Swift has been openly sharing her political beliefs since 2018 when she endorsed Phil Bredesen, the Democratic candidate for the Senate in Tennessee.
