Even icons can fangirl!
Taylor Swift kicked off her Life of a Showgirl promotional tour with a special stop at Heart Radio in the U.K. on Friday, Oct. 3 — the same day her new album dropped — where she joined Emma Bunton, better known as Baby Spice.
The 35-year-old superstar couldn’t hold back her excitement while chatting with the former Spice Girls member, now 49, who co-hosts the station’s program.
“It’s so surreal to actually be here with you. I was telling you earlier — I had your doll,” Swift gushed, recalling her beloved ’90s Baby Spice Barbie. “It was my absolute favorite. All of us would argue over who got to be you, especially among the blonde girls.”
Her admiration didn’t end there. Swift went on to express just how much Bunton meant to her, adding, “You were honestly the first artist I ever completely fangirled over. You mean the world to me.”
Blushing at the compliment, Bunton laughed and admitted, “I’m really going red right now. I don’t even know how to process all of this.”
The appreciation was mutual, as Bunton revealed she attended Swift’s record-shattering Eras Tour twice.
“That just blew me away,” Swift said about spotting her idol in the crowd. “Backstage, they gave me the list of who would be at the show, and when I saw your name, I was like, ‘Oh my God, oh my God.’ And then I actually saw you there.”
Swift recalled how she was able to spot Bunton in the crowd, since the British singer happened to be seated beside her parents, Andrea and Scott Swift, during the London stop of the tour.
“I was right next to your mom and dad, and it was wonderful,” Bunton said. “We had such a lovely evening together, chatting away.”
According to Swift, her mother was especially fond of Bunton, saying she “absolutely adored” her.
Not only did Bunton get to spend time with the Swift family, but she also witnessed a milestone moment on the Eras Tour — when Taylor’s now-fiancé, Travis Kelce, joined her on stage at Wembley Stadium in 2024.
“I was at the show where he came out with you,” Bunton recalled. “He just lifted you up and…”
