“I was shocked by how wild it got!” The Weeknd later shared on The Tonight Show. “I kept thinking—what if they weren’t into it?”

Jimmy Fallon and The Weeknd Deliver an Unforgettable Surprise for Fordham’s Class of 2025

Comedian and Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon teamed up with chart-topping artist Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, to surprise students at Fordham University. The graduating class of 2025 had gathered for what they thought was a typical celebration — until Fallon was unexpectedly introduced as the evening’s DJ.

“Hey, what’s going on? Congrats, Class of 2025!” Fallon shouted, met with roaring applause and excitement from the crowd.

An excited but slightly awkward moment followed as Fallon admitted he had no idea how to DJ—he’d never done it before. “Mind if I just plug in my phone?” he joked, fumbling with some cables before giving it his best shot.

As the opening notes of The Weeknd’s hit “Blinding Lights” filled the room, the energy surged. The crowd erupted when the singer himself strode in, exchanging a high-five with Fallon before launching into a lively, high-energy performance for the thrilled students.

When the chorus hit, Fallon ditched the DJ booth, grabbed a mic, and jumped in to sing along. Meanwhile, The Weeknd got swept up in the fun, dancing with Fordham’s mascot, Ramsey the Ram—who nearly stole the spotlight with his enthusiastic moves.

Next, The Weeknd launched into his popular track “I Can’t Feel My Face,” and just like before, the crowd enthusiastically sang along, word for word.

“2025, make some noise!” he shouted mid-song, sparking a roar of applause from the students.

As the performance came to a close, Fallon gave The Weeknd a big hug and turned to the audience with a final cheer: “That’s how it’s done! See you later!” The pair then made a swift and playful exit, leaving the crowd buzzing.

Later that night, The Weeknd appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where both stars reflected on the surprise performance.

“I didn’t think it would be that wild!” The Weeknd said with a laugh. “I kept wondering—what if nobody liked it?”
