Tinashe Says She Kept Her New Album ‘BB/ANG3L’ Short with Only 7 Songs to ‘Cut the Fat’ (Exclusive)

Tinashe loves to get “2 On” — but she also knows when an album is too long.

The R&B singer-songwriter released her new album BB/ANG3L last week, and it’s her shortest project to date with only seven tracks. While walking the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Tuesday, she explained the record’s brevity and teased her upcoming tour with Shygirl.

“I think sometimes it’s good to streamline [an album] and cut the fat, and I really wanted people to appreciate every single one of those seven songs,” Tinashe, 30, tells PEOPLE of BB/ANG3L, an electronic-R&B project preceded by the singles “Talk to Me Nice” and “Needs.”
