“Jack Harlow happened to get an early listen to the album by coincidence.”

Lorde’s upcoming album Virgin got an unexpected nod from an unlikely admirer — rapper Jack Harlow.

In a conversation with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, the 28-year-old singer discussed the creative journey behind the album, sharing a memorable experience involving Harlow, 27.

As Lorde explained, “Jack Harlow happened to be working at Electric Lady Studios at the same time we were finishing the album, and he ended up hearing most of it by chance. It was a really fun and unexpected connection.”

Reflecting on the encounter, the Solar Power artist added, “He’s incredibly kind. He said to me, ‘These are bars,’ and I just laughed and said, ‘That’s you saying that, not me.’”

Lorde also touched on the dynamic energy she aimed to infuse into Virgin, noting a desire to engage both physically and emotionally with her performance.

“There’s this flowing rhythm and a sense of movement throughout. I’m always trying to amuse myself, provoke a reaction, or keep the whole thing feeling alive,” she said.

Her fourth studio project, Virgin, also explores themes of gender identity — a topic she previously discussed with fellow artist Chappell Roan during a Rolling Stone interview.
