Why Dedicated Taylor Swift Fan Nikki Glaser Chooses to Keep Her Distance at Events: ‘I Avoid Even Looking at Her’

Glaser admitted on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast that her behavior around Taylor Swift might come off as rude.

During the Feb. 24 episode of Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, the comedian and devoted Swift fan—who spent nearly $100,000 attending 22 Eras Tour shows—shared why she chose not to approach Swift at the 2025 Grammy Awards, despite both being nominees.
“Everyone wants a moment with her,” said Glaser, 40, who was nominated for Best Comedy Album for Someday You’ll Die but lost to Dave Chappelle’s The Dreamer. “I would never be the one to say, ‘Excuse me’—ever. In fact, my behavior around Taylor Swift might even seem rude because I won’t so much as look in her direction.”
Glaser revealed that many have urged her to approach the Karma singer, but she has a specific reason for holding back. “There’s no way she wants that on a night like this when everyone is already doing it,” she explained. “And of course, she’d be incredibly kind—I know exactly how it would play out.”
She went on to clarify her stance: “I don’t want to take away energy from someone whose energy I rely on to create amazing music. The last thing I want is for her to make a slightly less great song because she had to stop, say ‘Nice to meet you,’ and comfort me while I’m crying. That’s unnecessary. I just can’t bother her.”
In addition to being a devoted Swiftie, Glaser hosted the 2025 Golden Globe Awards earlier this year. But as she continues attending high-profile events, her perspective on them has started to shift.
“I usually feel pretty down after awards shows, no matter the outcome, because I’m surrounded by celebrities I’ve idolized, and I start to see the façade and the underlying desperation,” Glaser shared on Armchair Expert.
She elaborated, “Everyone’s in uncomfortable outfits with fake hair, and we’re all just trying to be noticed—sometimes feeling a little let down when we’re not. It’s a bit sad because no matter how successful you become, you still worry about who’s in the room, who’s paying attention to you, and where you’re seated. I tend to fall into a bit of a depression afterward.”
Taylor Swift isn’t the only star Glaser keeps her distance from at awards shows. Earlier in the episode, she revealed a particular reason she had hoped to win Best Comedy Album at the Grammys.
